Fourth Quarter General Membership Meeting

Thursday, October 11, 2018 (3:30 PM - 5:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

October Meet & Learn with special guest, Robert Dietz, Ph.D., Chief Economist for the National Association of Home Builders, NAHB, on Oct. 11 from 4p.m. to 5p.m. at the Baton Rouge Marriott, 5500 Hilton Ave. Registration will begin at 3:30p.m. with the presentation starting at 4p.m.

Dietz will speak to guests on the impact of the housing industry on a national and local scale. Dietz is the nation’s leading expert on home construction analysis and trends and has been cited and appeared on CNBC and the Wall Street Journal.

The presentation will provide an overview of economic and housing market conditions with an eye on residential construction impacts and recent trends in housing affordability. He will review national and local macroeconomic factors affecting housing demand and industry-level detail on supply-side headwinds that are limiting construction sector growth. A question and answer session will follow.

“The home building industry’s economic impact is not only measured by jobs and wages,” said Karen Zito, president and CEO of CRBA. “The homebuilders and their work are building the future of our community as major contributors to our quality of life,” Zito emphasized.

In a recent study commissioned by CRBA and conducted by NAHB, researchers found that building 3,451 single-family homes generates $677.3 million in income for local residents and $60 million in revenue for local governments in the year they are built. Dietz will go into depth about what this means for Louisiana and specifically the Baton Rouge Area.
